Douglas publishes “further reading” to 20 point plan

Note: this post originally appeared on ‘Douglas to Dancing’, a blog I maintained from 2007-9 on the ACT New Zealand political party. The blog was an extension of the thesis I wrote about the Act Party in 2007, From Douglas to Dancing: explaining the lack of success of ACT New Zealand and evaluating its future prospects (PDF).

Sir Roger Douglas has published a 129 page document giving “further reading to ACT’s 20 Point Plan to bring our children home”. See also the pages by Douglas at his campaign website, I’m told the file will soon appear at the official ACT website.

Commentary to follow.

Not sure I can take a guy seriously who says this on global warming:

“To be precise, it has been confined entirely to two periods: from 1915 to 1940 and from 1975 to 1998.”

And the world was warm in the middle ages didja know? Those two issues have been done to death over the past several years, but somehow they just keep popping up! There is so much extremely poor research or deliberately misleading facts in there – i’m flabbergasted. I’m not too keen on a party that engages in such unethical practices.

Maybe i’ll take a look at the other policy detail, maybe I won’t. Otherswise, highly commendable of them for outlining so much of the detail behind their policies.

    …did I say ‘facts’? 😀
