Douglas to Demolition

Note: this post originally appeared on ‘Douglas to Dancing’, a blog I maintained from 2007-9 on the ACT New Zealand political party. Geoffrey, i’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the Roger Douglas announcement yesterday & what it will mean for ACT. Do you think it will help ACT in gaining more of the party vote from perhaps those who would vote National now, or do you think it will hinder them, in that some will remember Douglas from the 80’s & decide Douglas with ACT cancels out Rdoneys new ‘softer’ image?

  2. Thanks for your comments – you’ll see I’ve done two posts on Douglas’s return. I’d be pleased to hear your views on these. And you’ve hit the nail on the head – it’s a risk getting Douglas back insofar that it will cancel out the attempts to change ACT’s image since 2005. However, it should be pointed out that these attempts have had no effect on ACT’s support level. Perhaps it is time to try something different.
